During training muscle fibres are slightly torn and it is the subsequent repair and muscle thickening that becomes muscle growth. During the repair phase it is important to have a quality pool of protein within the body to provide the mechanism to allow muscles to grow.

HOW MUCH PROTEIN DO YOU NEED?
When building muscle it is important to eat sufficient protein and a daily requirement of between 1.5g to 2g per kilo of bodyweight is advised. Protein is obtained from the normal diet but is often combined with unwanted fat and calories.

WHAT ARE AMINO ACIDS?
Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein. There are 20 amino acids which help build muscles, blood, skin, hair and support internal organs. Amino acids can be synthesized in the body but eight of them, called essential amino acids must be obtained from the daily diet.

Pre-digested protein sportsfoods are absorbed faster than food protein that has to be digested by the body before its amino acids are available for muscle repair.
